Heineken

As the UK’s leading cider and beer business, HEINEKEN is delighted to become an Official Provider to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

We have a long and proud history in Scotland. We continue to be a major employer in the country with more than 400 colleagues at our Edinburgh office and a further 200 working at our state of the art service centre, First Point, in Livingston serving pubs across the UK. We employ around 2,000 people across our 8 UK sites, including breweries, cider plants and offices.

Our Caledonian Brewery has been part of Edinburgh life for 140 years. Here, we brew the famous Deuchars IPA, Flying Scotsman, Golden XPA and Caledonian 80 /-. Our team at the Caledonian brewery is hard at work finalising plans to brew a limited edition ale, which will be available to our customers in the run up to, and during the Games.

More than 90% of our beer sold in the UK is brewed in the UK with all of the malt and barley coming from farms across the country. We are passionate supporters of the great British pub. Since 2010, we have invested £600m in developing our pub business and through our Star Pubs & Bars we own an estate of around 1,200 high quality pubs -of which around 300 are in Scotland.

We recognise that as an alcohol producer we have a huge responsibility to encourage moderate and safe enjoyment of our products. We will be working with the games organisers to ensure that we actively promote responsible drinking and the enjoyment of our beer and cider.

With the eyes of the world watching Glasgow this year, we look forward to playing our part in making it a safe, successful and memorable occasion.
